As you make college plans, or firm up your plans for fall, we want to inform or remind you of a wonderful resource we have here at American Lutheran Church of Windom: The ELCA College Scholarship
COLLEGE & SEMINARY SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE THROUGH THE TRUST FUND for members of American Lutheran Church.
- ELCA College Scholarship of $2000/year, renewable up to four years whatever your major.
- College Scholarship of $1000 toward tuition for any ALC young adult who works a summer at Shetek Lutheran Ministries.
- Funds to support seminary students are also available.
Some of our regional ELCA Colleges are:
- Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD
- Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN
- Concordia College in Moorhead, MN
- Augsburg University in Minneapolis, MN,
- Olaf College in Northfield MN
- Luther College in Decorah, IA
- Wartburg College, Waverly, IA
Many of these colleges will match the funds that are contributed by the congregation to double the award.
To apply for the scholarship to an ELCA College, simply print the application HERE and fill it out; or stop in the church office for a copy. This application can be turned in anytime between now and April 30th, 2024 (Deadline) and may be sent to American Lutheran Church, PO Box 188, Windom, dropped off in the office, or emailed to winalc@windomnet.com. (You must reapply every year.) The Scholarship Committee will then review the applicants, notify you of the award, and the funds will be sent directly to the college.
The 26 colleges and universities of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America are some of our proudest institutions. They are dedicated to the freedom of inquiry and the development of the whole person in body, mind and spirit. Students are educated for a sense of calling or vocation, opening the path toward a meaningful life of contribution to the common good through whatever career they choose. These colleges often offer substantial financial aid. Add the ALC Scholarship to your package, and you may be surprised how the sticker price comes down!
- Those who have, or plan to work a summer at Shetek Lutheran Ministries are eligible to receive a one time $1000 scholarship to the college or technical school of your choosing. Print the application for this scholarship HERE or stop by the church office.
